| The 20th annual Grand Hike is upon us. This year's trip is scheduled for May 9-11, 2014. The theme for this year is, of course, the number 20! 20th year, 20 mile hike, 20 new participants, etc.
The "Grand Hike" has become an annual tradition, an institution in its own right. Hard to believe it's been 20 years now! Come experience the grandest of all natural wonders up close and personal as you hike through the most scenic place on earth! You'll never forget the feeling of wonder as you gaze from the Colorado River toward the canyon rim, and you'll always cherish the sense of victory when you arrive at the top and retrace the day's journey with your eyes. You'll curse my name the next morning when your limbs feel like lead and your muscles ache with every move. But you'll always be glad you went on the hike and can say "I DID the Canyon!" 2014 marks the 8th year it's been designated the Chris Nicholas Memorial Hike. I'm dedicating these annual outings to the memory of our fellow hiker Chris Nicholas, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in January of 2007. Chris's favorite hiking destination was the Grand Canyon, so it's befitting that we visit the Canyon in his honor. |

Even if you don't plan to do the whole Grand Hike, you are still welcome to come camp and hang out with us. Many of us go on smaller hikes, bike around the rim, go rock climbing, or just sightseeing. It's a chance to get away from the heat and to hang out with some really cool friends, or even meet some new ones. Find all the details on this year's hike by clicking the appropriate tabs on this page. When you are ready to commit, go to the sign-up page to register, pay, and verify your attendance. I'm gonna try to keep these web pages up-to-date with all the latest trip info. So check back often for the latest scoop on this year's trip. BTW, there are tips on training and preparation and lists of stuff I'll provide and stuff you'll need to bring for the Grand Canyon hike. If you don't have all the necessary gear or have other general questions, feel free to contact me at charles@asu.edu. Shameless Plugs:
